Unakki Estate, situated in Joldal Palya of Chikmagalur at an elevation of 3700-4200 ft, is a fourth-generation coffee plantation. The estate, now named "Unakki" after the local den of snakes worshipped for its resilience, covers 138 hectares and cultivates varieties like Sln 9, Sln 795, Catimor, and Old Kents. The farm practices sustainable agriculture, using natural fertilizers and providing a habitat for diverse wildlife.

Founded by Kathyayini Muddiah and Rakhee Vishwanath, Unakki Coffee Collective supports small farmers with specialty coffee practices. They assist producers in tasks such as picking and pulping cherries. Despite climate-induced drying issues, their cooperative model ensures sustainable income for small producers. The estate also grows other crops like orange, lemon, jackfruit, banana, soapberry, and pepper, fostering a rich biodiversity.
